There are many picturesque walks in the area with Cheedale, Miller’s Dale and the Monsal Trail only ab short walk away with spectacular scenery and an opportunity to see wildflowers indigenous to this limestone area.
Across the White Peak, there are several disused railway lines that have been converted to recreational use for walking and cycling. The Monsal trail can be easily accessed from the cottages where you can see the constructional feat that made this line famous.
Dovedale, Lathkill Dale and Berrisford dale are only a 15-minute drive away which are among those that have been entirely untouched by man and have some of the rarest and beautiful plants in the Peak Park.
Twenty minutes travel will take you to the dark Peak with dramatic landscapes and edges of Kinder Scout, Stanage, Bleaklow and Jacob’s Ladder.
Whether you want to walk from the cottage door or travel to beautiful countryside there are many places to explore and lots of interesting places to visit.
Spa town with famous Opera House is 10 minutes drive. Steeped in architecture, the Devonshire Dome is the home of the University of Derby, bringing new life into the town.
Bakewell is also a 10-minute drive, the most popular market town in the country. Monday sees the cattle market and outdoor stall market. Bakewell is a beautiful town with river walks and a chance to try out the famous Bakewell Pudding.
Chatsworth House, owned by the Duke of Devonshire, is steeped in history and beautiful works of art, with fantastic gardens and fountains, landscaped by the famous Capability Brown.
Haddon Hall dates back to the 1300s and is the finest medieval house in the country. Tissington Hall, Hardwick Hall and Longshaw are all within easy reach.
The villages of Hartington, Eyam, Edale and Castleton to name a few are all close by.
For the more adventurous Alton Towers is 35 minutes away and there are the Blue John Caverns, the cable cars at Matlock Bath and many more other active delights to explore.
